St Julian’s, Malta – December 20, 2019 – Casino Malta is delighted to announce dates for next year’s €1 million guarantee Battle of Malta event – along with the launch of a brand new €500,000 guarantee event called Siege of Malta.
Battle of Malta will be returning in its now traditional Autumn slot, with a €500 + €55 Main Event from October 13-21. The new €400 + €50 Siege of Malta event will run April 15-20. Both festivals will be held in the spectacular Eden Arena at the InterContinental Conference Centre in St Julian’s.
The award-winning Battle of Malta smashed records for the eighth year running in 2019, with 4,657 entries generating a gigantic prize pool of €2,258,645. With 35 events on the schedule and more than 13,000 tournament entries overall, the Eden Arena was packed throughout the seven-day festival. Moldovan player Serghei Lisii took down the €1 million guarantee Main Event for €247,167 after cutting a heads-up deal with Dutch poker pro Steven van Zadelhoff. The total prize pool was shared by 688 players and was more than double the Main Event guarantee.
Building on the success of Battle of Malta, the new Siege of Malta event – which comes with a very affordable €400 + €50 buy-in – looks set to attract thousands of players from all over Europe and beyond. Full schedule details for both the Battle of Malta and Siege of Malta festivals will be released shortly, along with information on how to qualify online.
Battle of Malta – which won “Event of the Year” in the category for buy-ins up to €2,000 at the 2015 European Poker Awards – will be heading into its ninth consecutive year in 2020. The event now has an enviable reputation as the #1 destination tournament for low to mid-stakes poker players.
The tournament was launched by PokerListings in 2012 and is now operated by Eden Leisure Group, which also owns Casino Malta, the Hotel InterContinental (Malta’s largest 5* hotel), the Holiday Inn Express, and the InterContinental Arena Conference Centre. MainEventTravel.com will be the event’s Official Travel Partner for the third year running.
